Tendong Hill

Tendong Hill is a popular trekking destination in Sikkim, India, known for its stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas. Located near the town of Ravangla, the hill stands at an elevation of about 8,530 feet (2,600 meters) and is part of the Tendong Hill Wildlife Sanctuary. The trek to the summit offers breathtaking vistas of snow-capped peaks, lush valleys, and the neighboring states of West Bengal and Bhutan. Tendong Hill holds cultural and spiritual significance for the local Lepcha community, and the trek is celebrated for its serene beauty and peaceful environment.

Tendong Hill Itinerary

*Day 1: Arrival and Exploration*

1. Arrival in Namchi:
- Morning: Namchi, the nearest major towns to Tendong Hill.
- Check-in: Check into your hotel or accommodation.

2. Travel to Tendong Hill:
- Late Morning: Depart from Namchi and drive to the base of Tendong Hill. The drive takes approximately 1-2 hours from Namchi.

3. Trek to Tendong Hill:
- Early Afternoon: Start the trek from the base to Tendong Hill (Damthang). The trek generally takes around 2-3 hours, depending on your pace.
- Rest Stops: Take short breaks along the way to rest and enjoy the scenic beauty.

4. Explore Tendong Hill:
- Afternoon: Reach the top of Tendong Hill. Enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, including the Kanchenjunga range.
- Lunch: Have a packed lunch or enjoy a meal at the base if available.

5. Return to Base:
- Late Afternoon: Descend back to the base of the hill.

6. Dinner and Relax:
- Evening: Return to your accommodation. Relax and have dinner.

Day 2: Local Sightseeing and Departure

1. Breakfast:
- Morning: Enjoy breakfast at your accommodation.

2. Local Sightseeing:
- Late Morning: Explore local attractions around Darjeeling or Namchi if time permits. Popular spots include the Namchi Chardham, Samdruptse Statue


3. Departure:
- Afternoon: Check out from your accommodation and proceed to your onward journey.
